ABOUT SBCA

OUR STORY - SBCA

In 1993, nine Chinese Women, who met in a singing class at Torrance Art Center, felt the need and decided to form a peer group for support and personal growth. Thus, South Bay Chinese Women’s Association was born. Over the years, the Association held meetings for information exchange and social gatherings, also gave seminars on various topics that impacted the lives of both established locals and new immigrants alike. But most of all, it helped Chinese women in the community form new and lasting friendships and gave each other support.

The Association is very dedicated to promoting family activities and helping our next generation learn about Chinese culture and customs. To that end, it has hosted numerous events to celebrate Chinese holidays.

In February 2005, South Bay Chinese Women’s Association was officially incorporated as a non-profit organization. Our Association has grown impressively over the past 20 years, we are so proud of all it has achieved to date.

In October 2022, South Bay Chinese Women's Association was officially renamed as South Bay Chinese Association.

We seek to educate, encourage support, and promote welfare through professional development and community involvement. Additionally, we want to share knowledge and information, strengthen communication, and promote the prestige and interests of our members. At the same time, we want to introduce Chinese culture and history to our community.
